A little snippet about me.

Hi, my name is Devin P. Dawson, but just call me D. P. Dawson.

I’m in my early 30s, married to my gorgeous wife, and have two wonderful daughters and a strong son. There are more layers to this descriptive onion but in due time.

Why am I starting this blog?

I asked myself that question the first moment I read it out loud from a google search. For fifteen years I have been writing on and off. Only being published once in print, I am now 27 years old and have just realized I don’t have to published traditionally to have my work out there.

I know there have to be writers and creatives who have felt the same way.

It was like I didn’t have time to create an internet presence that was follow-worthy, nor did it feel like it was doable to make a blog that people would read.

So, I am writing this blog to share my experiences about being a scared creative, and how day-by-day, I am breaking out of the mental cages I have placed on myself. I write short stories — mainly in genre fiction. From horror to allegorical short-shorts, I write unusually because that is how I perceive the world around me — unusually.

I may write something about music, a piece about gaming — perhaps a post about how I dealt with (and continue to deal with) colourism. I will refer to my faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.

I don’t know how this blog will grow, what it will morph into, or trans-mutate down the road.

I do know this — I am writing for those who feel like they aren’t good enough to create and are afraid of showing their creations. Join me on this journey.
